Arrivederchi Serenity…..here come the kids.
As soon as the kids heard that we were planning this Italian sojourn, they decided to hop on board. Of course, Mama and Papa will be providing the beds and food (and vino) so why not? Wogette and her husband, Machissmo are to meet us in Milan. Leonardo, our artistic son based in Scotland, also plans to fly to Milan on the same day. You think they’d pick the same airport but nooooo. Milan has three airports at the three furtherest points of this huge city. After racing round like bush flies, we finally get to our home base of Lucignano. Just in time for Mr. Wannabeawog to get back in the car and collect next son, Pythagorus and his lady, La Principessa from the train station at Arezzo.
Finally, we are together. Family love!
Of course, it’s all hugs and kisses until siblings start fighting. I am pretty close to pulling out the wooden spoon on more than one occasion.
We settle into village life. The first night we sing songs on the terrace and are told to shut up by the neighbours. The second night, we play games indoors and are told to shut up by the people living downstairs. This is going to be a long week.
We have lots planned and decide to hire an extra car so we can escape from each other now and then. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Even though they are all grown up, we still stay up and wait for them to get home….even if it is the early hours of the morning (happened more than once). And then there is the laundry. And cooking. Oh and their bedrooms look like tips.
I love them so much.
When are they leaving?
Ciao for now.
